Finding your first job is hard – but we can help! If you are 16-24 years old, and you’ve never worked before, or you don’t have much experience, our Youth Services division is the perfect place to start building your resume and filling your wallet.
Montgomery County’s Youth Services team will guide you on your path to independence and self-sufficiency by helping you develop your educational and employment goals. A great way to start exploring career options is by assessing your strengths and interests. Our counselors will talk you through the process and help you understand which job skills are necessary to land the position you want.
In addition to career coaching and counseling, we provide job readiness training, which can make you more valuable to your new boss. And, don’t underestimate the power of volunteer work or internships—even unpaid experiences can lead to employment.
On the second Wednesday of every month, WorkSource Montgomery will hold a Leadership Lab. The Leadership Lab is an open forum where young adults have an opportunity to engage with industry leaders to gain exposure in many of the growing career fields in Montgomery County. In the Leadership Lab, we will participate in a variety of activities including: inviting guest speakers to talk about different career paths, going on tours of work places, encourage mentorship, and empower young adults to lead sessions for themselves. The Leadership Lab is a place where young adults can learn first-hand the requirements for opportunities that they may be seeking.
The Leadership Lab is also designed to benefit community employers. Businesses have the opportunity to invest in the young adults of our community, provide mentorship and network, and meet dedicated potential employees! This will allow business leaders to invest in the development of the future of the community as well as provides a direct link to the mindset and passion of tomorrow’s workforce.
