I am honored to have joined the Montgomery County Sister City & Economic Development Delegation early in November for a monumental trip to South Korea and China. We traveled some 7,000 miles to create new relationships that expand our economic and social ties with our sister cities. We in turn, created a deeper experiential understanding of the cultures and traditions of our Korean and Chinese Americans living in Montgomery County.

Camille comes to WorkSource Montgomery with over 10 years of experience in workforce development. After graduating from Howard University, she began her career working with students with special needs and realized the importance of job training for those who may not find traditional 4-year degrees suitable for themselves.

Summer R.I.S.E. 2018 Host Recruiting is Underway

In its first year, Summer R.I.S.E. served 362 students with at least one student from every Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) high school. We partnered with 145 business, non-profit, school district, and government agencies that hosted high school juniors and seniors by providing them with a unique opportunity to learn about potential career paths in the County.

In 2018, the goal is to double the numbers of students we connect to careers! We are working to recruit more host organizations to join this mission to expand our talent pool and ready our future workforce.

Young Adult Opportunity Program Spotlight

WSM’s Young Adult Opportunity Program is designed to work with young people, ages 16-24, to obtain employment and training in fields that can lead to long term careers with benefits and self-sustenance.  The Young Adult Program’s main goals are employment and training; however, the program also provides support services to assist Montgomery County youth in overcoming barriers that may keep them from becoming gainfully employed and stable. Our program also works with community leaders and business owners to help mentor the young adults into becoming responsible leaders themselves.
