WorkSource Montgomery is proud to focus on the workforce development needs of the East County Region of Montgomery County. With this area facing challenges such as limited access to public transportation and employment opportunities, county leaders developed the East County Opportunity Zone Initiative centered around the belief that the residents’ ability to find and maintain valuable employment will help stabilize the community. WorkSource Montgomery joined this effort to assist residents in preparing for new local openings and to connect them with opportunities that exist in surrounding communities. Through this partnership, we are able to offer one-on-one assistance to job seekers in East County, as well as soft skills and work readiness workshops.
To help spread the word about our services, the East County team hosted a meet and greet event at the East County Regional Service Center in April. A crowd of more than 50 attendees met our dedicated staff, were able to sign up on-the-spot for a variety interactive workshops like Resume Clinic and Freelance for Creatives, and could even acquire library cards through Montgomery County Public Libraries. Participants left with information on the program, a better understanding of how the team can assist them in their job search, and a sense of hope and excitement about future possibilities. This event was made possible by a partnership between WorkSource Montgomery, East County Regional Service Center, Montgomery County Public Library and our funder, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
