From the Suite Source
I am thrilled to be a part of the changes and visionary thinking taking place in what I truly believe is one of the best counties in the country to work and live. As of July 1, 2016, WorkSource Montgomery has transitioned from a government organization to a non-profit, public/private partnership. In our new structure, WorkSource Montgomery will convene key stakeholders, including industry, education, and community agencies, to create the ecosystem for an effective one system approach for talent development.
To help keep everyone up-to-date about what WorkSource Montgomery is doing, we are launching a monthly e-newsletter, From the Source. Eventually, we may publish more frequently, but for right now, we felt it was important to start communicating with our community.
We have so much going on, as you will read about in this issue. For example, we’ve moved into a new office space, we’ve launched a new website, we’ve launched our Twitter and Facebook accounts, we’ve hired new staff…and we’re still hiring…and, of course we’ve issued the draft Local Area Workforce Plan. And all of this has occurred in a timespan of about eight weeks!
I’ve also been out and about in the County meeting, presenting, and speaking with many of you and will continue to do so. I strongly believe in connecting with our community and hearing about your needs and how we can best serve you.
Just in the last month, we have supported 1,900 job seekers within the Job Centers, held 10 recruiting events for our employers, facilitated ongoing employability workshops and credential training opportunities, and we are continuing to increase our capabilities through new grant funded programs. We also held an open house for our Young Adults on Sept. 20. Please be sure to check our events page on the website for future outreach events.
In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to call or email me…or stop by our new office for a visit!
