From the Suite Source: WorkSource Montgomery, Beyond WIOA
WSM is funded through multiple sources. Our largest funder is the Federal Government through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA is legislation designed to strengthen and improve the nation’s workforce system. WIOA regulations are closely monitored with set processes to support the unemployed and underemployed achieve high quality careers and to help employers hire and retain skilled workers. Utilizing these funds, WSM provides a wide variety of services including direct career supports and business services at the American Job Centers located at Wheaton and Germantown as well as in county libraries and community centers.
Montgomery County is home to a wide range of industries and diverse talent. At WorkSource, we believe that the services under WIOA are not enough to meet our economic demand. One of our county’s biggest assets is human capital. Therefore, WSM has formed partnerships to better serve our community that go beyond WIOA.
Take a look at some of our recent partnerships utilizing non-WIOA funding specifically designed to support opportunities in growing industry sectors as well as specific programs that even the playing field for career seekers that have challenges to employment.
