Works: Retail/Restaurants
This retain/restaurant training program takes place on-site in various locations. Our attendees experience what it's like to work in a real community based business establishment and our community members see our potential as employees and dedicated workers. We are always looking for more business partners. Successful completion of this program does not guarantee employment but it does help build a well-rounded resume of job skill mastery.

Weekend Enrichment Respite Program
These weekend programs provide enrichment and skills development to adults with disabilities. Program length varies from 3 - 6 hours and includes a rigorous and multi-sensory curricula. Benefits of this program are two-fold, as caregivers get to rest while knowing their loved ones are being cared for in a loving and stimulating setting.

Therapeutic Art & Music
We provide therapeutic art and music for our more profoundly impacted family members. Classes are led by certified therapists and attendees learn how to express themselves in a variety of creative ways. The music program takes students on a tour of all musical genres, exploring new rhythms, instruments and voices. Both these programs are heavily geared towards mood regulation and self discovery.

Caregivers' Club
Caregivers' Club provides opportunities for caregivers and parents of our members to gather and socialize with those of similar life experience. These activities have included virtual paint night, restaurant outings and happy hours! We also provide parent empowerment sessions as parents call and need different types of support.

"Let's Read" Book Club
Two reading levels: Novels or Chapter Books Join UCR friends in the community to read, read aloud or listen to your favorite books in a moderated class at Panera in Gaithersburg. Bring some money for your lunch and your favorite book to read/share!

Men's Night Out
Mens Night Out is designed to help young men with communication or social challenges put their friendship building skills to good use. This program caters to young men who are learning how to be independent in the community. Run by an experienced therapist, the men are dropped off and hang out together by bowling, laser tag, movies, dining or playing cards. The young adults independently build and practice communication and social skills in a real-life community setting.

Social Activities
UCR strives to reach every member where they are. We provide small and large social opportunities that are fully inclusive. From nights out on the town, movies, sports activities, art classes and more!

Works: Glee Club Choir
No musical experience is desired. UCR Glee club is a wonderfully social program which works on the foundational skills of team work, cooperation, listening, sharing and having fun! The group will learn to sing their favorite music that they hear on the radio today and work together to find the best sound!

MNJ provides the opportunity for UCR members to perform as a professional rock band. The aspiring musicians will be integrated with experienced professional musicians to create a variety of music. Bring your instrument, your voice, or borrow one from Groove!
