WSM Offers Assistance to Discovery’s Talent

WorkSource Montgomery Offers Assistance to Keep Discovery’s Talent Close to Home

Rockville, Md. – In an effort to aid employees seeking new positions during Discovery Inc.’s transition from Silver Spring, Maryland to New York City, WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) joined the ranks of state and local organizations helping to provide resources to Discovery’s skilled workforce.

“WorkSource Montgomery’s mission is to connect talent to employers in Montgomery County. Because of Discovery’s move, there are top candidates available for our local businesses,” said Ellie Giles, WSM CEO. “We want to keep our top talent here in the county.”

As a part of the Rapid Response team working to support Discovery employees with employment transition services from the State of Maryland and the county, WSM is participating in a series of information sessions to outgoing employees. These sessions offered twice each month, provide critical information on accessing unemployment insurance and health insurance, as well as job placement assistance.

WSM’s goal is to ensure workers are connected to career opportunities and are knowledgeable about the assistance they can access through the American Job Centers. At locations in Wheaton, Silver Spring, and East County, outgoing Discovery employees can learn about workshops, trainings, recruitment events and job fairs and meet with career advisors. WSM hopes these resources can help employees enhance and transfer existing skills to other local employers.
