National Grant to Train Workers for Careers in IT and Cybersecurity

WorkSource Montgomery is collaborating with Montgomery College, which will serve as the lead on a $5.6 million America’s Promise grant. The grant will provide IT and cybersecurity training for students to ensure Montgomery County is better equipped to meet local business needs.

Business Spotlight: An Interview with Donohoe Construction Company

Donohoe Construction Company, the Washington, D.C., region’s oldest full-service real estate company with five divisions and more than 1,300 employees, is collaborating with the Housing Opportunities Commission of Montgomery County on Chevy Chase Lake Residential, a public/private venture to build affordable, multi-family residential units off Connecticut Avenue and Jones Bridge Road. The company has turned to WorkSource Montgomery to help fill jobs at a variety of levels from trades workers to administrative staff. We have recently partnered with the Maryland Tech Connection (MTC) with the goal of helping more residents secure employment in the highly skilled, well-paying fields of IT, cybersecurity, and biosciences. WSM Adds Two New Staff

We are continuing to build our own workforce talent pipeline with the addition of Mary Ellen Curto, director of business solutions, and Annette Gantt, director of operations.

As Director of Business Solutions, Mary Ellen is responsible for linking local and regional economic development with workforce efforts by targeting and focusing on emerging industry demands. By using the insights from dialogue with industry alliances, solutions are tailored to the region and increase the ability for individuals to compete for higher-quality jobs.
