I am very excited about this issue of our newsletter. It demonstrates the great programming and strong efforts of our team that directly address this year’s priorities.
WSM’s FY 2019 priorities supporting a systemic approach to workforce development are:
- To implement strong customer-focused practices to increase a sustainable employment placement rate
- To increase employer engagement and career pathway partnerships in strategic industries
- To increase and convene current community-based partnerships
Customer focused practices start with strong communication. Ensuring that we provide resources and current information has been achieved through our new website. Not only do we highlight all our services, we also provide up-to-date labor market data and resources for both career development support and business solutions. It is an excellent resource for our community. Please check out our calendar to learn about workshops and hiring events happening in our centers. There is something exciting happening almost daily!
WSM provides career seeker workshops, career consultation and support for job placement. Our success is measured by strong job placement enhancing the quality of life for our customers. Read about our customer success stories – a new regular feature in our newsletter.
Priority 2 focuses on increasing employer engagement. To be successful, WSM partners with our employers across industry sectors to understand current and future talent demands. We then work with our community and educational partners to determine strong career pathways that will lead to sustainable opportunities. I encourage you to read about our latest partnerships in the article A Positive Forecast for Local Business Engagement and contact our business solutions team to solve your talent needs.
We are thrilled to have participated in the East County Job Fair as it is a perfect example of how we work to address priority 3, strengthening community partnerships. With over 65 employers and 600 job seekers in attendance, this successful event could not happen without the strong collaboration of community partners. WSM looks forward to working with our partners addressing workforce development in many new ventures.
