WorkSource Montgomery Celebrates Black History Month

History helps us understand the present and build to a brighter future. Black History Month is a special time of the year dedicated to celebrating the achievements and contributions of African Americans on American history and culture. Understanding the level of adversity many of those who came before us faced while contributing so much, it’s important that we not only celebrate our history, but also continue the work to ensure equity on all fronts.

With Montgomery County’s Black or African American population growing from approximately 7% in 1990 to almost 20% today, the ability for our Black communities to continue to advance economically plays a transformative role in continuing to advance Montgomery County as a whole. To this end, let’s all continue to do our part—for WSM, we’ll continue to work to provide access to education and training, career pathways, and entrepreneurial opportunities! —  Anthony Featherstone, Executive Director, WorkSource Montgomery

So this month WorkSource Montgomery will be highlighting Montgomery County’s own Black industry leaders, Black-owned businesses, and community leaders committed to building up MoCo’s African-American community.
