Programs

Job Readiness Program
The Job Readiness Program at Madison Fields is a person-centered program that teaches work skills to individuals with intellectual disabilities, in the hopes of eventually matching them to meaningful employment in their communities. The program provides job skills training through caring for animals on the farm, working in the one-acre garden, and making and selling soap through the farm's microbusiness - a soapery. Individuals learn specific work skills, as well as soft skills (such as communication, teamwork, and applying and accepting feedback) to help serve them in future employment opportunities.

Target Population: Individuals between the ages of 21 and 101 who have different learning needs and who want to learn job skills.
Intake/Eligibility: Individuals can contact us through our website and indicate any interest they have in any of the programs we offer. A staff member from the farm then reaches out and schedules a tour, phone call, or evaluation session.
Equine Assisted Services (EAS)
The Equine Assisted Services program at Madison Fields includes therapeutic recreational horseback riding and equine assisted learning. Therapeutic Recreational Horseback Riding consists of mounted lessons that teach students basic horsemanship skills under the guidance of a certified riding instructor. The primary focus is to meet recreational and leisure goals in a relaxed atmosphere of support and socialization. Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is an unmounted experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills for educational, professional and personal goals through equine-assisted activities.

Target Population: Individuals facing physical, cognitive, behavioral or emotional challenges, including those on the Autism Spectrum, individuals with learning disabilities, and Veterans.
Intake/Eligibility: Individuals can contact us through our website and indicate any interest they have in any of the programs we offer. A staff member from the farm then reaches out and schedules a tour, phone call, or evaluation session.
Agricultural Education
As a proud member of the Agricultural Reserve in Montgomery County Maryland, Madison Fields shares a commitment to the preservation of rural space. Part of that preservation includes educating the community about our interdependence with the natural world and the role we play as stewards over the health of our environment. The Agricultural Education Program helps students of all ages and ability form direct connections with the animals, plant life, and land we all depend on. We offer a variety of educational activities and lessons that can be combined to suit the curiosity and needs of our guests. Each lesson aims to empower students to make informed choices in everyday life as stewards of the Earth.

Target Population: School-aged students, ages 3-21
Intake/Eligibility: Individuals can contact us through our website and indicate any interest they have in any of the programs we offer. A staff member from the farm then reaches out and schedules a tour, phone call, or evaluation session.
