Rockville, MD (February 17, 2026) – WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) is proud to announce that it has been awarded $550,000 through the Maryland Department of Labor’s Local Workforce Impact Fund. The award includes both a $150,000 formula-based grant and a $400,000 competitive grant. These resources will significantly expand WSM’s ability to connect Montgomery County residents to in demand skills training and career pathways.
Statewide, nearly $3 million was awarded to Local Workforce Development Areas to advance community-driven, high impact workforce initiatives that help Marylanders access occupational training, industry-recognized credentials, and supportive services.
Investing in Training, Mobility, and Economic Opportunity
WSM will use the newly awarded funds to strengthen two of its key workforce initiatives:
- LYFE (Launch Your Future Employment) – supported by the $150,000 formula award, enabling more young adults to access training, paid work experience, career coaching, and other wrap around support.
- Adult & Dislocated Worker Sector Connector Initiatives – expanded through the $400,000 competitive grant to help adult job seekers move into high quality jobs in high demand industries including technology, life sciences, construction, transportation,and healthcare.
These projects advance the goals of Maryland’s Statewide Workforce Development Plan and align with the Moore–Miller Administration’s focus on economic mobility, access to opportunity, and connecting businesses with the skilled workforce they need.
Statewide Collaboration Strengthening Maryland’s Workforce
The Local Workforce Impact Fund is a joint initiative of the Maryland Department of Labor’s Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning and the Governor’s Workforce Development Board—reflecting a coordinated approach to ensuring equitable access to workforce development resources across the state.
Maryland Labor Secretary Portia Wu emphasized the importance of investing directly in local solutions that meet the needs of workers and businesses, highlighting how these grants help Marylanders gain in demand skills and connect to good jobs
