John Hattery is WSM’s Director for Strategic Initiatives responsible for developing, implementing and supporting innovative workforce services for job seekers and employers in Montgomery County.

Mr. Hattery brings extensive expertise earned over a 25-year career leading nonprofit and for-profit workforce organizations. While at Home Builders Institute, he supervised a staff of 70 charged with delivering industry-standard construction training for court-involved youth and adults, as well as providing support for several USDOL Funded YouthBuild programs and 2 multi-state 21st Century Apprenticeship Grants. He also served as the National Association of Workforce Professionals’ Deputy Director where he created a technical assistance program funded by a USDOL Workforce Innovations Grant and played an integral role in the establishment of the Mid-Atlantic Leadership Academy for Workforce. His career then took him to KRA Corporation where he developed KRA’s One Stop Operations arm as well as AJC services in several states. His workforce experience ranges from policy to operations and has partnered with local, state, and federal entities to support effective workforce development across the country.

John enjoys great live music, golf, coaching lacrosse, and being with friends and family. John and Lynn have a blended family which includes 5 children and 2 large and lovable dogs.
