WIOA Services

What is WIOA?

The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a federal program administered at the American Job Centers by WorkSource Montgomery.

It is designed to help organizations like ours develop a skilled workforce that meets the needs of local businesses and industries by helping jobseekers like you access training, education, and employment.

While we remain dedicated to assisting individuals in their career development and job placement, it is necessary to inform you that we currently have a waitlist for WIOA referrals. All individuals referred to the program will be promptly notified of the waitlist status. Only priority populations, as defined by WIOA legislation, will be enrolled until further notice.

The priority populations specified by the WIOA include:

  • Dislocated Workers

  • Low-income Individuals

  • Homeless Individuals

  • Displaced Homemakers

  • Older Individuals

  • Veterans

  • Individuals with Disabilites

  • Ex-offenders

  • Youth with Barriers to Employment

To ensure enrollment eligibility, all referred participants must be able to demonstrate their eligibility as a Priority Population in accordance with the State of Maryland Department of Labor (DOL) document checklist. We understand the significance of this delay and its potential impact on our community members. However, it is crucial to note that our intake department will continue to provide one-on-one meetings to review eligibility for other WorkSource Montgomery programs.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • East County Program

  • SkillUp Montgomery

  • Maryland Workforce Exchange Virtual Recruiter

  • Monthly Sessions

  • Refferals to the Workforce Recovery Network Training Providers
